Big Changes

Big changes, my vast readership. There is a new character on the scene, and her name is Edith Barack Fluffypaws. Outstanding kitty pics to follow.

Latest Baby Blanket

Ahhh, babies. Everyone is having babies. Not me. I'm having wine and sushi and very much happy.
HOWEVER, I do love me some crocheting. I started this blanket a while ago, and its sort of just been a slow process. However, the baby came a few months early (she's great!! and awesome!! and so wee!!) so I had to get on it.
I used a pattern I got from the Lion Brand website (see it here) but I tweaked it a little bit (added wider bands for the solid colors, thin band of the multi). It really was super easy, and turned into some great lunches outside, crocheting and listening to npr podcasts.

Buttermilk Corn Muffins

This is another recipe from Fresh Direct. I love that there's a feature that I can just click that will put all the items I want into my basket- no worrying about forgetting something or choosing something twice. I feel like it's the inherited New Yorker in me (thanks mom!) that appreciates things just being delivered, no questions asked.
Thai at 3am? Sure! Sushi from our place? It'll be here in 20 minutes. And with a doorman to sign for my packages, my online shopping has reached epic proportions.
But it's ok, the stimulus check came.

Check out my muffins:

Eleventy Layer Bars

These are probably the worst (for you) things I know how to make. Chocolate? Check. Lots of butter? Check. Condensed milk? Sweet, sweet condensed milk? Definitely check.
But really, who cares? No one eating these thinks they're health food, so just go with it. I tweaked the following recipe a bit, substituting cashews for walnuts. That's just a personal preference (or mild cashew obsession).
Enjoy!!

Check it out!!

Baby Blanket Numero Uno

I'm a 60 year old grandma trapped in a 27 year old body. I bake, I cook, and of course, I crochet. Here is the very first baby blanket I made for the first baby born to one of my contemporaries. Really, I've known her since we were 13, and now she's a mom. CRAZY!!!
I just wanted to share another little project I worked on:

Keep checking back for more yarn fun!

Portabello Pizzas

I like this dinner because it's yummy like pizza, but there's no pesky carby-crust. It's mushrooms! Not bread!!
I cook the mushrooms in a pan for a few minutes on each side. When it sweats out a little bit, I put the sauce and then the cheese, and put it in the oven for a few more minutes, usually at 300.
I've done it with pepperonis for MB, and you could really top it with whatever pizza toppings you might like.
Mmmm, pizza.....

Strawberry Shortcake

My Greatest. Accomplishment. Ever.

This is the first of two posts that were made for my very wonderful, very gracious, upstairs neighbors who let us abuse their deck. They have a great view of the Manhattan skyline, so are the obvious hosts of the July 4th BBQ Gala. To show my appreciation, I made this very pretty item, along with some other little things. But this, this is my baby:

And easy. The whipped cream isn't hard, it just took a lot longer than I had anticipated.
